Diet for a diabetic?
My father was just diagnose with type II diabetes. He has always been a big eater but veryb active. He loves twinkies and mainly any other kind of snacks. But now they said that he can no longer eat his favorite fried foods or snacks. My mom doesn’t really understand the diet papers that the doctors give her. I was wondering if I could get some help with finding some websites with easy to understand diets and directions.Maybe some info on portions and planned meals.Any help would be very much appreciated. He is not overweight.
I found this web site yesterday that will plan meals for you by answering a few questions. If there is something on the menu that you don’t like they offer subs. The website is onetouchgold.com you could also try dlife.com the have different recipes there i have tried a few and have no complaints
can a diabetic have chips????????………?
….. for college work – i had to do a 2day diet plan on 2 different people with dietary problems i chose a diabetic and i have yet to chose a second dietary problem person for the diabetic i was wondering if they could have chips– i was thinking for the evening meal-fish chips and peas but i cnt find out if they are allowed chips. if they cnt have chips-what could they have with their fish and peas???????
Hi, no people with diabetes can eat chips! But some people with type 2 diabetes might also be trying to loose weight so this is the main problem if the chips are fried (but the fish is high fat too!). The main things for someone with type 2 diabetes to avoid are v high carb (eg. Pizza) or sugar (eg. Cake!) foods. People with type 1 diabetes can eat the same diet as anyone else, although we need to watch that little bit more cos insulin means it’s easier to put on weight than it is for other people. Btw sorry I know it’s a bitty silly in a way, but ‘diabetic’ is not v politically correct! We’re ‘people with diabetes’!!! Hope that helps – good luck with your project xxx
Help with a diet and exercise routine.?
I am 31, and a type 2 diabetic. I am over weight and need help getting motivated. I need a meal plan and an exercise routine that I can fit into a VERY busy kid full day. I have a gym membership but don’t want to go alone. (I know sounds dumb, I am new to my area and don’t know anyone but my fiance) Any ideas are welcomed. Thanks!
Eating right helps alot…. And a bit of exercise wont hurt not even that much 10-15 min. Im 19 and my dad has type 2 which was passed down from his parents… So im trying not to get into it myself. Im overweight and im the type of person who ate out everyday, every meal… Honestly It reallllly helps to cook at home… Its amazing how a burger at mcdonalds is 500 cal… Thats just the burger alone and when you cook at home you can get a full meal for just 500 cal or less. Ive exercised week 1 of dieting then gave up but i did loose 1.2 lbs just the first week alone excising and dieting. Now i just diet and ive lost 3 lbs in total and im on week 2.. Its not much but its great to step on a scale just to see 133 instead of 135.. Even that motivates me… When I started exercising i started to lift weights to help my biceps (10lbs) the only reason i did this is because i knew i wont see quick results from just runnin on my threadmill for 20 min a day, with lifting weights i can see my biceps getting bigger and bigger every other day it really helps to know your doing something right… If u doing that right then your probably also loosing weight by just running or walking on the threadmill…. Just watching my biceps grow motivated me to keep dieting n exercising.. Try it out, good luck.
