Sara answers:
1. Google diabetic recipes. There are tons of sites. 2. Normal blood sugar is 80-110. 3. If you continue eating so much sugar/carbs and raising your blood sugar the way you are, you will kill yourself, but not before having both of your feet amputated. Diabetes is a very serious disease and you need to get a handle on it right away.

Joseph asks…
I am lactose intolerant and type 2 diabetic. What the heck can I eat that won’t upset my stomach?
?
I have always liked cheeses and dairy but now I can’t have it because it feels like my stomach is being torn apart when I do eat it. And I am trying to stay away from sugar. What kind of foods or recipes would be good for someone with my diet? I have been switching snackfoods to things like nuts, fruit, vegetables. I’m just so sick of the same food! I also can’t have hardly any tomatoe stuff because of my acid reflux. Basically I just would like some nutrional advice. .

Sara answers:
There is a plethora of things you can eat. Very healthy things that will help lower your insulin resistance, reduce your insulin requirements, improve your energy, and help the acid reflux. I don’t have the time or space to explain here, but rest assured, there are so many tasty foods and food combinations, that it’s hard to imagine. My sweetheart is vegan so there’s no meat or dairy in the house. What she does with vegetables, nuts, fruits, and whole grains would amaze you. There are also vegan dairy substitutes that, frankly, I wouldn’t go near just a few years ago. Turns out, they’re not as bad as I imagined. My insulin resistance is no longer an issue. I no longer take any medication for my diabetes. I have more energy than in the past 20 years. It’s amazing when you give the body the foods that it was optimized for. Spend a little time reading things like, “The China Study”, by T. Colin Campbell, or “Eat To Live”, by Dr. Joel Fuhrman, or “The McDougall Plan”, by Dr. John McDougall. Again, there’s no limit… You just have to shift your paradigms a little.

Quinoa recipes…..How Do You Fix Your Quinoa, those who cook/serve it?
I have a few quinoa recipes but I am always on the lookout for more……want to introduce this wonderful grain to my southern peach of a hubby because potatoes, brown rice, and whole grain pasta gets old after a while….I’ve already gotten him to eat barley, whole wheat couscous, & wild rice pilafs…looking to expand his horizons….he’s a type 2 diabetic and the dietitians push healthy, high fiber additions to his diet because fiber slows down glucose absorption…. So how do you ‘do’ your quinoa…I am not looking for ‘pasted’ recipes from other websites…personal experience, please….and if you make /serve any other little known but healthy grain as a side dish..please feel free to clue me on what’s out there…thanks!

Sara answers:
You can use it any way that you use rice. So, serve hot or cold in a salad with diced vegetables, in milk with a little sweetener for breakfast, as a pilaf, as a filler in meatloaf, add flour and an egg to make quinoa cakes, substitute in a fried rice recipe… You get the idea.
